Safeguarding training for higher education settings
Three levels of safeguarding training to choose from or to underpin a whole-institution approach
At Plinth House, we deliver safeguarding training that is written from a higher education perspective – not just marketed to higher education. Our courses are designed to cut through confusion and provide clarity on what safeguarding really means for universities and HEIs.
The importance of how we define "safeguarding" in higher education
Too many safeguarding courses blur the lines between safeguarding, wellbeing, and mental health. This broad, open-ended approach can create uncertainty and operational challenges for higher education providers.
We start with a clear definition, in line with the approach of statutory authorities and with legal definitions.
We define safeguarding as "the full range of steps a higher education provider or other organisation takes to protect individuals - specifically, children and adults at risk - from abuse and neglect". We differentiate clearly between safeguarding concerns and other types of support or intervention.
