Our training approach
Compassionate communications in higher education

Balancing compassion - hero image.jpg

Across the higher education sector, universities are committing to the principles of compassionate communication. The University of Plymouth identified the importance of going beyond principles to embed the practice of compassionate communication more consistently across all of its activities. Plinth House worked with colleagues across the University to develop resources to support staff in their day-to-day communication with students. Read more about our project with the University of Plymouth in our case study.

The University of Plymouth has kindly given us permission to share elements of the final set of resources with colleagues at other institutions. If your institution is looking to make compassionate communication more practical, consistent and sustainable, you can explore these resources by completing the form below.

We offer ready-to-run training courses to support colleagues in their one-to-one interactions with students, focusing on responding and supporting in a compassionate, boundaried and effective way.

Balancing compassion with boundaries when working with students

This practical course explores the kinds of interactions that can be difficult in one-to-one work with students. The focus is on getting the balance right by being supportive and engaged with the student while also maintaining appropriate boundaries and looking after our own wellbeing.
